The PSOE spokesperson in the Madrid Assembly, Mar Espinar, has lashed out at the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, for her trip to the United States and for the statements made during her visit. “She is licking the boots of someone who despises Spain”, the socialist leader affirmed when referring to the attitude of the Madrid president on that trip.
Espinar has reproached Ayuso for using her international trips to politically confront and has criticized that, in her opinion, the Madrid president seeks support from leaders who have questioned Spain. In that sense, the socialist spokesperson has maintained that Ayuso's actions harm the country's image.
The leader of the Madrid PSOE has insisted that the regional president should focus on the problems of the Community of Madrid instead of starring in political controversies outside of Spain. Espinar believes that the trip responds more to a strategy of political confrontation than to the interests of the people of Madrid.
