The president of Melilla (PP), Juan José Imbroda, asks King Felipe VI to visit Ceuta and Melilla "without further delay"

The president of Melilla and of the regional PP, Juan José Imbroda, has demanded this Saturday that King Felipe VI visit Ceuta and Melilla "without further delay", given the situation experienced in both autonomous cities due to migratory pressure and the recent crisis registered in Ceuta.

Imbroda has conveyed this request through his official profiles on social networks, where he has defended that "the time has come" for the monarch to travel to both territories.

"I believe that the time has come for our King, Felipe VI, to visit Ceuta and Melilla", wrote the Melilla president, who recalled that his predecessors already made visits to the two autonomous cities.

Specifically, Imbroda pointed out that "Alfonso XIII and Juan Carlos did it before in 2007", in reference to the trip of the emeritus king to Ceuta and Melilla in November of that year.

"But without further delay", concluded the president of Melilla in his message, which he accompanied with a photograph next to Felipe VI during one of the receptions held at the Zarzuela Palace.

The request comes after the arrival of more than 70,000 Moroccan migrants to Ceuta and the death of more than a hundred of them while trying to reach the Spanish city by swimming. In Melilla, during the same period, around 1,300 entries were counted, without any fatalities being registered.

Imbroda's request also coincides with the statements of the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who has affirmed that the King "wants to go to Ceuta" because "it corresponds to him" as head of state given the "humanitarian, public health and public order crisis" that the autonomous city is going through. Feijóo has demanded that the Government of Pedro Sánchez "authorize" the visit.
