The regional president, Fernando López Miras, has indicated that the fire front affecting Sierra Espuña could reach close to two kilometers and that, according to the technicians' first estimates, some 400 hectares could have been affected.
López Miras has explained that currently around 150 personnel are working in the area, including forest brigades, CEIS firefighters and Civil Protection members, as well as four helicopters from both the Region of Murcia and Miteco and the Valencian Community.

Likewise, it has reiterated that the first technical assessment points to an approximate affected area of 400 hectares, while the active front is situated around two kilometers.
The regional president has also indicated that, according to the technicians' forecasts, the evolution of the fire could be favorable if the wind intensity decreases from 8:00 PM. Furthermore, he has stressed that he maintains coordination and communication with the mayors of the affected municipalities, Aledo and Totana.
The Government Delegation in Murcia authorizes the deployment of the UME
The Government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Francisco Lucas, has authorized the activation of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) to intervene in the fire declared in Sierra Espuña. According to what he has communicated through his social networks, the personnel are already on their way to the affected area.
Likewise, he has insisted on "the need for the president of the regional Government, Fernando López Miras, to immediately convene the Coordination Center". "In an emergency, coordination between administrations is essential," Lucas added.
