Thousands of people have once again demonstrated this Saturday in València to demand the resignation and the withdrawal of Carlos Mazón's deputy certificate for his management of the DANA of October 2024. The protest, called under the slogan “Mazón to prison”, has toured the city center, coinciding also with the indefinite strike of Valencian teachers.

The march has departed from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and has advanced to the Plaza de la Virgen, in front of the Palau de la Generalitat, with the participation of more than 200 social, trade union, and civic entities. Associations of DANA victims, citizen platforms, teachers, and families who also denounce the deterioration of public services and the policies of the Consell have joined the mobilization.

The conveners consider “unsustainable” the political situation nineteen months after the tragedy that left 230 deceased in the Comunitat Valenciana and criticize that Mazón still maintains his deputy certificate. During the protest, banners were displayed with messages demanding justice and calling for the former president to “testify and leave now”.

The demonstration has repeated the same route as the historic protest held on November 9, 2024, just a few days after the DANA, as a symbol that “nothing has changed” since then. Attendees have chanted slogans against the Valencian Government and against the management of the emergency during those days.

The mobilization also comes amid full political tension after the closing this week of the investigation commission of Les Corts Valencianes on the DANA. PP and Vox approved alone a report that points to failures in meteorological and hydrological information and holds the central Government responsible for not having executed certain hydraulic infrastructures.

Against that version, the convening groups insist that there are still pending political responsibilities and advocate for maintaining pressure in the streets. This Saturday's protest once again shows that the management of the DANA continues to be one of the main open wounds in Valencian politics.
