A Valencian court indicts the riot police officer who pushed a teacher during a peaceful educational protest

On May 31, during an educational rally in front of the Consellería de Educación in Valencia, a riot police officer pushed a teacher who was at the protest, suffering a broken nasal septum in the fall.

For this reason, a court in Valencia has charged the riot police officer who pushed the teacher, who was on strike by teachers of non-university public education, called to denounce the situation of the sector. After this, the teacher filed a complaint, which the Public Prosecutor's Office has favorably reported for admission.

Among the planned proceedings, the court will take a statement from the agent as an investigated party, who appears in the images pushing the demonstrator and causing her to fall to the ground. The police officer will be interrogated next September 24 in the Court of Instruction. In addition, the Prosecutor requests to investigate him for possible crimes of injury, with the aggravating circumstance of abuse of public office, against moral integrity and against individual rights.

And it doesn't stop there, but the Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) union has also filed a complaint in defense of the teacher, however, it is still in the admission process. The organization maintains that the police officer, belonging to the riot unit, violated fundamental rights by acting against a peaceful concentration. They have also argued in their complaint that the agent's mission is to protect the exercise of fundamental rights, but that his actions undermined them. For this reason, they have requested that he be charged with several crimes. Injuries with aggravating circumstance of abuse of superiority and crime against moral integrity.

On the other hand, the National Police maintained in its report that the push to a retired teacher during the educational strike in Valencia, "was in accordance with the regulations," considering that the woman encouraged the demonstrators to occupy the roadway and cut off traffic.
