Wave of resignations in Vox in Castilla y León a few days before the regional elections

This Thursday a series of resignations was registered in Vox in Castilla y León in the final countdown to the regional elections, a move that from several party sources was described as a "generalized stampede" within the regional leadership.

According to affiliates and members of the party's circle in Ávila, several officials and militants resigned or renounced their responsibilities in protest and discontent with the internal management and the organization's strategy for the elections.

The wave of departures occurred a few days before the appointment with the polls in the autonomous community, which generated concern in the ranks of Vox about the repercussions that this phenomenon could have on their campaign and on the mobilization of their electorate.

Ultras agitators accredited in Congress "unsettled" the King and Queen

This Thursday, deputies in the Congress of Deputies denounced that several ultra agitators, who had been granted official accreditations to access the hemicycle, bothered the King and Queen during an institutional act. The presence of these individuals generated protests among parliamentarians from different groups, who considered it "inappropriate" for individuals linked to extremist discourse to have access to the Parliament's stands.

Several deputies highlighted, however, the fortitude shown by the King and Queen in the face of the situation, underscoring that they maintained their agenda and their intervention with dignity despite the noise and distractions caused. The political protest focused on the need to review accreditation criteria to prevent individuals associated with radical movements from having a presence at official events in state institutions.

Junts presented its own law against the burqa after rejecting the "racist" proposal by Vox

This Tuesday, Junts per Catalunya, Carles Puigdemont's pro-independence party, voted against Vox's initiative proposing to ban the use of the burqa and niqab in public spaces, calling it "racist" and stating that it did not meet European standards.

After that rejection, Junts registered its own organic law proposal in Congress to regulate the use of garments that totally or substantially cover the face when they prevent identification in public spaces, including elements such as the burqa and niqab, with the aim of guaranteeing security, coexistence, and respect for fundamental rights.

In its initiative, Junts also included the request to transfer powers in security and identification to the Generalitat, such as border control and the issuance of official documents, so that the Catalan administration can directly manage these aspects if the rule comes into effect.

National Police chief resigns after being summoned by a judge for sexual assault on a subordinate

This Thursday, the chief commissioner of the National Police submitted his resignation after a judge summoned him to testify for an alleged sexual assault on a subordinate. The judicial summons occurred after a complaint that investigates the facts and that has ended up forcing the official out of his position.

The resignation of the commissioner became known after the admission of the investigation by the competent judicial authority, which considers that there are sufficient indications to take testimony from the high-ranking police officer. His resignation is interpreted as a direct response to that procedural situation and now opens a substitution process in the leadership of the National Police Corps.

Borja Cabezón denied irregularities and defended himself against accusations of corruption

This Thursday, Borja Cabezón issued a statement to defend himself against reports that have pointed to him for alleged irregular practices related to complex corporate structures. In the document, he assured that he has never created "corporate labyrinths" nor acted with corrupt intent, thus denying the narrative that had been disseminated in certain media and networks.

Cabezón underlined in his defense that his professional career and his business activities have always been developed within legal and ethical frameworks, and expressed his determination to clarify any misunderstanding that may have arisen from the questioned information.

Alvise Pérez was reprimanded in the European Parliament for his words against Irene Montero

This Tuesday, MEP Alvise Pérez, leader of Se Acabó la Fiesta (SALF), received a formal reprimand from the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, after some words addressed to MEP Irene Montero in a plenary session.

In his speech, Pérez had said that Montero had reached her position "for having married her boss," a phrase to which Montero responded by accusing him of being sexist.

Metsola considered that those comments transcended the limits of legitimate political criticism and recalled in a letter to the MEP that the institution demands respect and moderation in the language and conduct of its members, urging him to adjust to those norms in the future.

The letter of admonishment was signed after the debate and Pérez assured that he will reply in writing to that institutional reproach.
