Rafael Hernando spreads a hoax on his social media with a 2024 photo to try to make it seem that Pedro Sánchez is on vacation in Andorra

Rafael Hernando, deputy of the Popular Party for Almería, was caught this Wednesday spreading through his social media, a hoax about the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, using an old photo of an Executive trip to Andorra, to try to make it seem that Sánchez was on vacation in Andorra these days marked by the migratory crisis in Ceuta.

In the tweet published by Hernando, an image is observed in which Pedro Sánchez can be seen in the company of his wife Begoña Gómez, riding a chairlift with two other men. This image can be seen to be a screenshot from a laSexta news report, and what also reveals it to be a hoax is that it can be clearly seen in the lower left corner how it is dated August 31. If it were a recent photo, it would be impossible, since Hernando published this image five days before August 31. The reality of this image is that it corresponds to the trip Sánchez made to Andorra in August, yes, but in 2024. In that year, the President of the Government traveled there to witness the mountain bike world championships.

This image is also accompanied by a message from the PP deputy: "From the beach to the mountains. People suffering in Ceuta the Moroccan invasion and hybrid war against our sovereignty and our border, and Sánchez takes a helicopter and Falcon to ride a bike in Andorra. Neither scruples nor shame," Hernando assures in his publication.

This hoax spread by the PP deputy has been published hours after other information related to this topic came out, but this news has also been denied. It is a piece of news published by the ABC newspaper in which they explain that the President of the Government is going to conclude his summer vacation in Andorra and that he will be there between August 27 and 30. However, this information has been denied by the Newtral.es portal, correcting that according to Moncloa sources, the Executive "is in Moncloa working as he will do the rest of the week."

This does not stop here, as the PP deputy for Almería has not stopped at this. Other deputies of the Popular Party, such as the deputy for Lugo Jaime de Olano, have also shared this image on their networks, adding that, "Sánchez in the Pyrenees resting from his vacations in Lanzarote," not without first ending by saying that, "it's just a meme." Rafael Núñez, deputy spokesperson for the PP in the Assembly of Madrid, has also joined the cause by sharing the publication and saying that "photos like that mark the end of a political cycle." However, he did finally rectify, agreeing with the truth, explaining that it was a photo of Sánchez in 2024.
