The deputy of Vox, Manuel Mariscal, assured this Tuesday during a parliamentary appearance that, if his party were to govern, “would kick out” the president of RTVE, José Pablo López, for what he considers an ideological bias in the programming of the public entity.

Mariscal lashed out against the corporation alleging that programs like Mañaneros 360 and Malas lenguas reflect a biased editorial line, relying on a report from the news councils which was later questioned by the board of directors of RTVE.

The accusation occurs in the context of existing political tension, in which Vox has harshly criticized various public and private media for their news coverage, raising the tone of its statements to pressure on content and editorial directions.

From RTVE, however, the neutrality of the corporation and its commitment to freedom of expression has been defended, rejecting any accusation of partiality. The controversy has once again placed at the center of the debate the independence of public media and the scope of their autonomy in the face of possible government changes.
