A few days before the start of Holy Week 2026, one of the most repeated questions is clear: what will the weather be like in Spain during the holidays? For now, the answer is not entirely definitive.
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) warns that the forecasts still present uncertainty, although the models agree on a general idea: there will be changes throughout the days and the atmospheric pattern will not be completely stable.
Before the start of Holy Week, the weather will be relatively calm in much of the country.
According to forecasts, the first days of the week will be dominated by clear skies and absence of rain in most of the Peninsula. The weather will be stable, with temperatures without major surprises and a general feeling of calm.
☔️ The last week of March will still begin with heavy showers in the Canary Islands. In the Peninsula, dry weather will generally prevail, except in the far north.

This scenario will be maintained, at least, until mid-week.
First clues for Holy Week
Ahead of the central days of Holy Week, especially in the period comprised between March 30 and April 5, the situation is less clear.
The models point to an initially calm week, with little precipitation in large areas of the country, especially in the west and the peninsular south.
In case of rains, these would be weak and isolated in this first phase.
While the Peninsula enjoys greater stability, in the Canary Islands the situation is different.
The archipelago will remain under the influence of storm Therese, which although it will progressively weaken, will still leave showers and some storms in the first days.
A possible turn starting Thursday
The scenario changes as the week progresses.
From Thursday, AEMET contemplates the entry of a cold air mass from the north, which could cause an increase in instability.
This change would coincide with the beginning of the most significant holidays, such as Palm Sunday.
Drop in temperatures and rains
With the arrival of cold air, temperatures could drop notably, falling below the usual values for this time of year.
Furthermore, precipitation is not ruled out in different areas of the country, especially in the northern half of the peninsula, where the weather change could be more evident.
Another of the elements that could appear is the snow.
Forecasts point to the possibility of snowfall at high altitudes, especially in northern mountain systems, if the entry of cold air is confirmed.
Despite these trends, AEMET insists that the forecast is not yet definitive.
The behavior of the atmosphere in these days will be key to determine if Holy Week ends up being mostly stable or if, on the contrary, it will be marked by episodes of instability.
