Hugo Pereira asks a key question to Feijóo about Ayuso: "Is it worth it for him to keep an ultra?"

The controversy surrounding the eviction of Maricarmen, the 87-year-old woman who had to leave her home, has also opened a new front of political debate. In the latest episode of Noticias de Verdad, Hugo Pereira, director of 'ElConstitucional.es', has focused on Alberto Núñez Feijóo and his relationship with Isabel Díaz Ayuso. The journalist poses a direct question to the leader of the PP: "Is it worth it for him to keep an ultra?".

Pereira centers a good part of his reflection on Ayuso's institutional responsibility as president of the Community of Madrid. "The important thing is that, that she is the president of the Community of Madrid," he points out, before questioning that a leader at the head of the regional Executive uses, in his opinion, a discourse close to that of Vox. The journalist describes these positions as "populist" and "frivolous" and assures that he does not share this type of message, which he considers especially worrying when it comes from a leader with executive power.

In this sense, Pereira differentiates between that discourse coming from Vox and it coming from the president of Madrid. "That the far-right Vox speaks in those terms on so many occasions, of trivializing and such, well, of course I don't share it," he states. But he adds that, in his opinion, it is even more relevant when this type of approach comes from the highest responsible official of the Government of the Community of Madrid. "It's no longer that it's condemnable or objectionable or criticizable, it's that it's extremely dangerous," he maintains.

The journalist also places his criticisms in the context of housing, a problem he considers transversal and which, in his opinion, should not be reduced to the usual confrontation between political blocs. "It affects transversally the right, the left, people who vote for the PP, people who vote for the PSOE," he notes. And it is precisely there that he introduces the case of Maricarmen, whose image leaving her home after the eviction has generated a strong social and political reaction.

Pereira recalls that the woman, 87 years old, ended up being transferred to the hospital and believes that this image should be the starting point to address the housing problem. "To anyone, whether right-wing or left-wing, a minimum of feeling, of common sense, it affects them to see an 87-year-old woman leaving through the door of her house," he states. Although an agreement was finally reached with the company that owned the home, Maricarmen's case has remained as one of the symbols of the difficulties many tenants face.

It is in this context that Pereira directs his question to Feijóo and questions whether the national leader of the PP considers it convenient to maintain support for Ayuso despite her positions. "Does it compensate Alberto Núñez Feijóo to have a president of the Community of Madrid who, I insist, has executive power, who speaks exactly the same or sometimes even worse than the far-right Vox?" he asks.

Pereira's reflection also extends to the strategy of the Popular Party itself. In his opinion, Ayuso's discourse can end up conditioning the entire formation and, especially, its national leader. "She is dragging Feijóo," says the journalist, who again raises whether it is convenient for the president of the PP to assume the political cost of maintaining that position.

Pereira concludes his intervention by insisting on the question that structures his entire analysis: "Does it compensate Alberto Núñez Feijóo to have a person like Isabel Díaz Ayuso, leader of the Executive of the Community of Madrid, saying these far-right, populist, frivolous things, in the purest Vox style?" And he answers from his own assessment: "I think not."
