The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has once again generated controversy after sharing on his social network 'Truth' an image in which he appears represented as Jesus Christ, surrounded by American patriotic symbolism. The publication comes a few hours after the leader lashed out against Pope Leo XIV, whom he described as “weak on crime and terrible in foreign policy”.
Trump's criticisms came after the pontiff described as “unacceptable” the American threat on Iran. In response, the president urged the pope to “concentrate on being a great pope, not a politician”, also assuring that his positions “are harming the Catholic Church”.
The image disseminated by Trump shows him in a scene of religious character, laying hands on a sick person, in a clear allusion to the miracles of Jesus Christ. The montage includes United States flags, eagles, and soldiers represented as celestial figures, reinforcing the idea previously disseminated by writer Nick Adams: “The United States has been sick for a long time. President Trump is healing this nation.”
Although the image seems generated with artificial intelligence, it is not completely new, as similar versions had circulated on social media months ago. It is not the first time that the president resorts to this type of representation. Approximately a year ago he already shared an image in which he appeared dressed as the Pope, stating then that he found it “funny” and that he did not believe it “would offend Catholics”, although it provoked criticism in different religious sectors.
