France, Germany and the United Kingdom have hardened their stance towards Iran and have shown a position aligned with Washington and with the Israeli Government in relation to the escalation in the Middle East. The three countries, which integrate the so-called E3 bloc, have warned this Sunday that they could take a further step if the situation requires it.
In a joint statement, the Executives of Francia, Alemania and Reino Unido have indicated that they are willing to act to curb Iranian military capability. “We will take measures to defend our interests and those of our allies in the region, potentially allowing necessary and proportionate defensive actions to destroy Iran's ability to launch missiles and drones at their origin,” they indicated.
Also, they have stressed the coordination with Washington on this matter: “We have agreed to collaborate with the United States and the allies of the region on this issue,” they have added.
The positioning of the E3 occurs in a context of growing tension with Irán and brings European capitals closer to the line defended by the American president, Donald Trump, and the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, supporters of a firm response against Teherán.
