The Islamic Revolutionary Guard has assured that, since the beginning of the attacks launched this Saturday by Israel and the United States against Iran, it has fired more than 1,200 projectiles in response, directed both against Israeli territory and against US military positions in the region.
“Immediately after the Israeli attack, around 1,200 missiles were launched from Iranian territory in response”, states the communiqué issued by the command of the Revolutionary Guard and reported by national media.
According to the Iranian version, the bombings against American bases in Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates or Saudi Arabia would have caused 200 American casualties, between dead and wounded. Washington, for the moment, has not confirmed these figures.
From the Israeli side, fmilitary sources estimate that around 200 of those projectiles impacted or were aimed at their territory. The emergency service has reported at least 89 minor injuries, most of them when they were trying to get to safety during the bombings.
The Israeli Government has defended that its operation, called Operation Roaring Lion, has involved the largest aerial deployment in its history. The Army estimates around 200 combat aircraft that participated in attacks against missile systems and air defenses in western and central Iran, including the capital, Tehran.
“Combat aircraft simultaneously launched hundreds of munitions against some 500 targets, including air defense systems and missile launchers, in various points of Iran”, the Army has detailed. “The attacks on the defense systems allowed the expansion of the Air Force's air superiority over Iranian air territory and severely degraded the regime's offensive capabilities”, the statement adds.
