Spain's second star has also been celebrated in the Middle East. Iran and the State of Palestine have publicly congratulated La Roja after their victory against Argentina, while numerous Palestinian fans celebrated the title in Gaza and the West Bank.

Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, conveyed a message addressed to both citizens and the Spanish Government. "I congratulate the people and Government of Spain for the success of their national football team and for their well-deserved world championship," he wrote.

Pezeshkian added that "the joy of the friendly people and Government of Spain is the joy of the people and Government of Iran", in one of the institutional congratulations received from abroad after Ferran Torres' goal that decided the final during extra time.

Gaza also shouted Spain's goal

The mission of the State of Palestine to the United Nations chose a much simpler message. It published the Palestinian and Spanish flags together, accompanied by a red and a yellow heart, over the official image that presents Spain as world champion.

The congratulation reflected a relationship that had been visible throughout the World Cup. Hundreds of Palestinians followed Spain's matches on screens installed between damaged buildings and community spaces, and celebrations once again filled several points in Gaza when the final ended.

The support for La Roja was also linked to Spain's position over the last few years. The Government officially recognized the Palestinian State in May 2024 and has defended humanitarian aid, the two-state solution, and compliance with international law in Gaza.

During the competition, Spanish flags appeared among Palestinian fans and numerous images of support for players like Lamine Yamal. The victory against Argentina brought hours of collective joy to a territory marked by years of war, destruction, and displacement.

Spain lifted the Cup in New Jersey and the cry of champions ended up being heard also in the streets of Gaza.
