Iran has responded to the massive attack launched this morning by the United States and Israel with a wave of missiles that have not only targeted Israeli territory, but also US military installations in the region. The projectiles have been directed against bases in Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates. The Emirati authorities have confirmed at least one fatality.
According to the semi-official Iranian agency Fars, the attacks have reached targets such as the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, the Al Udeid air base in Qatar, Al Salem in Kuwait, and Al Dhafra in Emirates.
The Bahraini Government reported an impact against a service center linked to the United States Fifth Fleet, responsible for operations in the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea and headquartered in the kingdom. The official agency BNA stated in a statement that the facility was the target of a missile attack and urged the population to follow only information disseminated through official channels.
Furthermore, the Government of Bahréin has condemned "these treacherous attacks, which represent a direct threat to the security of the Kingdom and the security of its citizens and residents", and stresses that "it reserves its full right to respond and take the necessary measures to protect its national security and preserve its sovereignty, in coordination with its allies and partners."
For its part, the Ministry of Defense of Emirates denounced “a blatant attack with Iranian ballistic missiles”. Although it assured that the defense systems intercepted several projectiles, it confirmed that the fall of debris caused damage in residential areas and the death of a civilian of Asian origin.
