Donald Trump has raised expectations this Saturday about a possible peace agreement with Iran, assuring that the pact will be signed this Sunday, a step that, he affirmed, would allow the immediate reopening of the strategic Strait of Hormuz and would consolidate the end of tensions between both countries.

Through a message published on Truth Social, the US president defended that the agreement will definitively prevent Iran from accessing nuclear weapons. Trump also assured that Tehran has abandoned any intention of developing or acquiring this type of armament.

However, from Iran, the response has been much more cautious. A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoted by official media, indicated that the signing of the memorandum of understanding will not take place this Sunday and called for caution given the volatility of US positions during negotiations.

The Iranian statements contrast with the optimism shown by Pakistan, a country that has acted as a mediator along with Qatar. Pakistani Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, affirmed that the parties are closer than ever to reaching a historic agreement and expressed confidence that its formalization will arrive in the next 24 hours.

According to Islamabad, there is already a definitive and consensual text that would serve as a basis to end the conflict and open a new diplomatic stage between Washington and Tehran. However, neither of the two parties has officially confirmed that the document has been definitively approved.

In parallel, various US media outlets indicate that representatives from the United States and Iran will hold a virtual meeting this Sunday with the participation of Pakistani and Qatari mediators to electronically sign the agreement and unblock navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump also assured that, once the situation is stabilized, the United States will proceed to recover and destroy Iranian nuclear material stored in underground facilities. The president insisted that he expects a peaceful transition, although he warned that Washington maintains other options if the process fails.
