Google continues to expand Gemini's capabilities with new tools that allow users to create, view, and edit files directly from a conversation with its artificial intelligence. The company has incorporated these functions into its application so that users can work with documents and other content without constantly switching platforms, from initial generation to final touches.
Among the main new features is the ability to create presentations and modify their content without leaving the chat. Users can ask Gemini to prepare an outline or develop slides, check the result, and request changes in tone, structure, or content. Once finished, the file can be opened in Google Slides or downloaded in PPTX or PDF format.
The tool also allows users to generate Google Sheets spreadsheets from written instructions, with tables, records, and data models that can be previewed before opening them in the application. In addition, Gemini incorporates options for writing and editing documents, PDF files, Markdown texts, and TXT files, as well as code. Users can select specific fragments to ask questions or request modifications from the artificial intelligence, both manually and through new instructions.
These functions have some differences depending on the device: PDF preview and editing are available on both the web version and mobile devices, while the rest of the formats are currently limited to the web. Google has confirmed that the new features are now available to all Gemini users, in the languages and territories where the application operates, both with personal accounts and with Google Workspace and Workspace Individual subscriptions.
