The royal decree-law approved by the Government and already published in the Official State Gazette (BOE), represents an additional injection of 6.2 billion euros over the next two years and modifies the amounts that the State contributes for each person recognized within the system.

The change implies an increase of 128% in the contribution corresponding to cases of severe dependency (grade III), 100% in those of severe dependency (grade II), and 18% in those of moderate dependency (grade I). These amounts will be transferred starting from July 1.

From the Ministry, it has been emphasized that this is "the largest historical contribution" to regional governments for the minimum level of dependency, which is complemented by the agreed level, the other financing channel of the system, whose amount will be debated in the Territorial Council of Social Services and the SAAD on June 29.

Regarding territorial distribution, Andalusia will be the community that receives the largest amount, with an estimated 1.275 billion euros in 2027, which represents an increase of more than 600 million compared to the previous model. Then come the Community of Madrid, with 887 million, and Catalonia, with almost 795 million after incorporating new items.

Sánchez defends that the measure seeks to "reduce waiting lists, guarantee more and better care, and dignify those who care"

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, had already announced during an event at Imserso, focused on dependency and disability, that the Council of Ministers would approve this Tuesday a royal decree to increase the financing of the system with an additional 2.218 billion euros in 2026.

The Executive's plan contemplates that the General State Administration will finance 50% of the dependency system "until exceeding 7 billion euros in 2027," to reinforce the scope of the system and improve care for those in a situation of dependency.

At that same event, Sánchez affirmed that this is a step to "consolidate a system that leaves no one behind when they most need society's support."
