Abascal launches a new xenophobic proclamation to attack the Government: calls migrants in Ceuta "Sánchez's militias"

The president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has accused the Government of favoring the foreign population in access to housing and certain public services. In a message published on 'X', the leader has described as "Sánchez's militias" both the people camping in Madrid's Puerta del Sol in protest over the housing crisis and the immigrants who have remained on Trampolín beach, in Ceuta, since last July 30.

Abascal has focused part of his message on the Executive's housing policies. According to him, the Government has built "800 social housing units" "in eight years" and has accused the Executive of establishing a "foreign priority" in their access.

The Vox leader has maintained that these homes are not intended "neither for Maricarmen" nor "for Marta and Dani who have just gotten married." Along the same lines, Vox's official account added: "If instead of Maricarmen it were Morocarmen, she would have a house."

"Always for the newcomers," Abascal insisted, extending that accusation to other areas of public policies, such as "social aid," "nursery places," or "healthcare."

The Vox leader has also linked the evolution of housing prices with the arrival of foreign population. Specifically, he has blamed the Government for "impossible prices" due to the entry of eight million foreigners since Pedro Sánchez became president, compared to the construction of "800 social housing units" and "where no one wants them."

In another message, Abascal lashed out at the Executive: "These mobsters have been governing for eight years (...) What have Sánchez and his accomplices done? Defend squatters and 800 social housing units." He then linked these policies with "the frustrated emancipations of millions of young people and families who cannot make ends meet."

Abascal's statements come as the Prime Minister has announced that the Executive is "working against the clock" to bring a new housing decree to Tuesday's Council of Ministers.

The announcement also comes after the case of Maricarmen, an 87-year-old woman who was evicted on Wednesday and whose situation has been incorporated by the Government into the debate on access to housing.
