Ayuso grants Gallardón, Cifuentes, and Aguirre a consultative position that allows them to collect thousands of euros from public coffers

Several of the former presidents that the Popular Party has had during these last years, such as Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, Esperanza Aguirre, and Cristina Cifuentes, have just been appointed, by the current president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, as effective members of the Legal Advisory Commission of the Community of Madrid.

This move, promoted by the Ayuso Government, authorizes them to be able to opt to collect tens of thousands of euros a year to these former presidents. This is because, each time they attend a meeting of their party, they will collect 750 net euros. Making quick calculations, in 2025, the full Commission met a total of 45 times throughout the entire year, so in that year, they could have earned 33,750 net euros, each of the aforementioned former presidents had they attended all meetings. If what the three together would earn were combined, the figure would amount to about 100,000 euros in expenses.

Isabel Díaz Ayuso, approved in 2025 the statute of former presidents, opening the possibility for these people to collect money from public coffers. This had been restricted since precisely Cifuentes dissolved the regional consultative council in 2015. However, Ayuso turned this situation around, appointing these three former presidents at the end of July, which consequently, to give an example, if they are summoned to an average of four monthly meetings, they would collect 3,000 net euros from public funds.

Ayuso's Government increases the fire rate

Isabel Díaz Ayuso's Government has increased the rate paid by Madrid municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants for receiving the service of the regional Fire Department. The new system will allow the Community of Madrid to collect an additional 37.8 million euros during 2026 and 2027, a bill that will end up weighing on municipal budgets and, by extension, on their residents.

The blow is even greater in more populated localities. Ayuso also raised the maximum number of inhabitants used to calculate the rate, which until now was limited to 100,000 people. The cap reaches 120,000 inhabitants in 2026, will rise to 130,000 in 2027, and will reach 150,000 from 2028.
