Santos Cerdán's lawyer, Jacobo Teijelo, is summoned this Thursday, June 25, at 10:00 AM before the judge of the Audiencia Nacional, Santiago Pedraz, as an investigated party in the so-called 'Leire case'. His statement is part of the round of interrogations that began this week and will continue until mid-July.
The magistrate places him within the investigation into the alleged plot related to former socialist militant Leire Díez. According to the case, this plot would have acted against judicial procedures affecting the Government or the PSOE through actions directed against judges, prosecutors, and heads of the Central Operative Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard.
Among the evidence analyzed by the judge is the alleged collection of 125,000 euros from the PSOE. According to the documentation incorporated into the summary, this money would be related to activities linked to the hydrocarbon sector.
The investigation also includes information sent by the State Attorney General's Office about two meetings held in 2025 in which Teijelo and Leire Díez participated. One on March 6, 2025, and another between late March and early April, in which, according to the Public Prosecutor's Office, Díez was presented as a "colleague from the office."
The general who heads the body's command, the current DAO, have already testified
The first statements will be made by two Civil Guard officials: the general who heads the body's command and Commander Juan Manuel Barco Mostazo, current acting secretary of the Deputy Operational Director (DAO). Both will appear as witnesses to clarify various aspects related to the opening of a confidential inquiry into alleged leaks within the framework of the Koldo case.
The judicial agenda will continue throughout the week with new appearances by Civil Guard commanders. Among those summoned for Friday are several high-level officials of the armed institute, including the former head of the Central Operative Unit (UCO), Rafael Yuste; the head of the Judicial Police, Alfonso Alberto López Malo, who publicly warned of a smear campaign against the UCO; and the general in charge of the Civil Guard Staff.
The case seeks to clarify the actions of former socialist militant Leire Díez, to whom actions aimed at promoting investigations into members of the UCO are attributed. According to the investigations, these movements would have included contacts with the director general of the Civil Guard, Mercedes González.
