This Thursday, May 28 will start in the Provincial Court of Badajoz the trial against David Sánchez, brother of the President of the Government Pedro Sánchez, and another ten investigated individuals, among them the former general secretary of the Extremaduran PSOE and former president of the Provincial Council of Badajoz, Miguel Ángel Gallardo. The judicial procedure will foreseeably extend until next June 4, according to the calendar set by the court.

The case focuses on the hiring of David Sánchez in 2017 as coordinator of activities of the music conservatories of the Provincial Council of Badajoz. The judicial investigation analyzes whether during that process alleged crimes of influence peddling and administrative malfeasance could have been committed. Along with Sánchez and Gallardo, several high-ranking officials of the provincial institution linked to that decision will also be tried.

The first two days of the trial, scheduled for Thursday, May 28 and Friday, May 29, will be dedicated to the resolution of preliminary questions raised by the parties. Subsequently, between Monday, June 1 and Thursday, June 4, the testimonial phase will take place, in which the appearance of a total of 42 witnesses is foreseen.

According to the judicial calendar, the sessions will be held in the morning and some also in the afternoon. The forecast is that the investigated individuals will declare in the final stretch of the procedure, specifically on Thursday, June 4, once all the practice of evidence and testimonies has concluded.
