The general secretary of FACUA, Rubén Sánchez, has requested a sentence of nine years in prison for the agitator Vito Quiles, whom he accuses of having carried out a continuous campaign of slander against him. According to the indictment filed before the courts of Sevilla, the defense maintains that the communicator's actions were not isolated incidents, but part of a deliberate strategy to seriously damage his public reputation.
The judicial document details that between February and July 2022 there would have been up to 28 publications on social media and other channels in which Quiles made extremely serious accusations against Sánchez. The prosecution considers that these statements constitute continued crimes of slander, further aggravated by a component of ideological hatred.
In addition to the prison sentence, Rubén Sánchez's defense demands the imposition of a fine of 20,000 euros and compensation of 60,000 euros for the damages caused. Likewise, it requests the disqualification of Vito Quiles from exercising any activity related to journalism for the duration of the sentence, considering that he used these channels to spread the alleged slanders.
The document also points out that the disseminated accusations included very serious crimes, such as child abuse, extortion, fraud or threats, which according to the complaining party were false and were issued with knowledge of their falsity or with a reckless disregard for the truth. In this regard, the defense maintains that there was a clear intent to harm the image of the FACUA leader through the repeated dissemination of defamatory content.
Finally, the prosecution proposes additional reparation measures, such as the obligation for Vito Quiles to publish a video reading the verdict of the sentence on his social media profiles. The case is currently in investigation phase, awaiting the judicial process to determine the veracity of the facts and the possible criminal liabilities derived.
