The resolution of the Court of Accounts

The Court of Accounts has acquitted, in application of the amnesty law, the former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont and 34 other former high-ranking officials of his Government, prosecuted for expenses linked to the procés, according to a sentence to which EFE has had access.

The decision comes three months after European justice endorsed the application of the law to the crime of embezzlement, a pronouncement that has had direct effects on this accounting procedure.

35 defendants and lifted bails

The court agrees to acquit the 35 defendants by the Prosecutor's Office and Sociedad Civil Catalana for the expenses of 1-O and for the external promotion of the procés, and also orders to lift the bails that had been imposed on the defendants.

The decision of the Constitutional Court

On October 7, the Constitutional Court (TC) notified the Supreme Court (TS) of the ruling that orders it to amnesty the crime of embezzlement weighing on several leaders of the procés, including the former Catalan president and leader of Junts, Carles Puigdemont.

This resolution came just one day after the high court annulled the arrest warrant against the independence leader.
