The judge in the Plus Ultra case rejects José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero's recusal against Yanes jewelry

The judge investigating the Plus Ultra case has agreed to dismiss the recusal motion filed by former Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero against Yanes jewelry, which he had asked to remove from the new appraisal commissioned for the jewels found in a safe in his office and initially valued at 1.3 million euros.

In an order to which 'EFE' has had access, the magistrate of the Audiencia Nacional José Luis Calama rejects that there are reasons to remove this jewelry store from the preparation of the expert report that he himself commissioned.

The judge also emphasizes that the defense of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero merely "invokes an alleged lack of impartiality" of the general director of the jewelry store, an allegation that, according to the resolution, "does not allow to appreciate, even circumstantially, the existence of kinship, friendship, enmity or personal interest of the recused expert in the outcome of the procedure."

With this criterion, José Luis Calama rules out that the request to remove Yanes provides sufficient elements to question the firm's intervention in the new valuation, in a decision that nullifies the claim presented by the representation of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
