Elma Saiz, Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, has confirmed that the Government expects to enable more places in the temporary humanitarian tents that began to be set up this Tuesday in Ceuta, and which a priori will accommodate 1500 people. "When the locations are operational, there will be more. I don't want to put a ceiling on it," the minister assured.
In an interview on Hoy por Hoy, Saiz stated that up to 4000 food kits are distributed daily in the autonomous city thanks to the work of Cruz Roja. She also commented that "case by case" will be evaluated when making a choice for these places in tents that are "temporary" due to the "extraordinary situation" that Ceuta is experiencing. "We are exquisite and a woman or a woman with minors is not the same," Saiz said.
The chosen locations for the placement of these tents will be, in the bagging parking lot, ceded by the autonomous city, and three in state-owned spaces, such as the equestrian facilities, the old cavalry barracks football field, and the Guano space. That is to say, three will be at the expense of the Executive itself and one managed by the autonomous Government.
Elma Saiz also took the opportunity to criticize the attitude of the Popular Party, which she questioned: "Do they come to collaborate and improve or to take photos with agitators? There is a context from Genoa that complicates collaboration between administrations, which is essential," she explained. In the same vein, Saiz affirmed that this PP of Feijóo "comes to take photos with agitators and say bombastic words against the Government, it is not the attitude of a state party with high aspirations." "What I take away is their example of coexistence even if some inoculate hatred and fear so that the response is not based on legality and human rights."
Before finishing, she also wanted to include the president of Ceuta Juan Jesús Vivas in her speech against the Popular Party. "In this case, the Popular Party, which I want to remind you is the party to which President Vivas belongs, well, it is true that we have been seeing in recent months that these migratory discourses have turned in an incomprehensible way, prisoners of those alliances with the far-right," Saiz stressed.
Finally, the minister was asked about Morocco, to which the spokesperson for the Sánchez Executive defined the country as a "reliable partner and a neighboring country" whose work has been essential for the government's solution. "It is not a threat to Ceuta or Spain," she concluded.
