The president of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has spoken this Saturday about the coordinated attack by the United States and Israel against Iran, assuring that “no democrat can be condescending” with the ayatollahs' regime. At the same time, he has defended that “the West must be united” and has asked for “containment, avoiding an escalation and returning to negotiation”.

Feijóo made these statements through a message on his account on X. During the morning he had participated in a rally in Ávila alongside the president of the Junta de Castilla y León and candidate for reelection, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, without making public references to the offensive initiated hours earlier in the Middle East.

Already on social media, the ‘popular’ leader affirmed that “the Iranian regime massacres its own citizens, pursues the nuclear bomb, finances terror and destabilizes the region”. In his opinion, “no democrat can be condescending with it because freedom is defended throughout the world”.

In that context, he insisted that “The West must be united” and demanded “containment, avoiding an escalation and returning to negotiation”. Likewise, he stressed that “at this moment, the security of Spanish citizens is an inalienable priority” and asked the Government to “immediately activate a protection and evacuation plan”.
