The leader of the Popular Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, urged this Saturday the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, to allow the appearance of the general director of the National Intelligence Center (CNI), Esperanza Casteleiro, to clarify the events that occurred in Ceuta during the massive entry of migrants at the end of July.

In this regard, Núñez Feijóo recalled that since the beginning of August his party has formally requested that Casteleiro appear before the Official Secrets Commission. In an event held in the Madrid municipality of Getafe, together with the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the popular leader warned: "I have been telling the minister from here: let the director of the CNI appear before said commission, because if she continues to block this request, even if it is not recognized, she is acting just like President Pedro Sánchez".

Asks for transparency under secret regime to know the whole truth

Feijóo stressed that the Executive should authorize this appearance to offer an official and transparent explanation within the reserved framework. "Allow them to communicate to us what happened under the appropriate format of official secrecy", he expressed, adding that preventing it means denying Spain "the legitimate right to know what happened".

Attacks on the Government for its attitude towards protests and migratory mafias

In turn, the president of the PP described the government presided over by Pedro Sánchez as "hostile towards those who defend borders and permissive towards those who violate them". Furthermore, he harshly criticized its stance regarding the massive demonstrations held recently: "It is severe with the millions of Spaniards who took to the streets last Wednesday and soft with the criminal organizations responsible for the illegal and dangerous trafficking that brings thousands of people risking their lives at sea".
