Feijóo denounces that the situation of the migratory crisis is "Dantesque" and vindicates the PP as an "alternative" to Sánchez: "There are thousands of people wandering through Ceuta"

Alberto Núñez Feijóo has clear what would be his first international destination if he reaches the Presidency of the Government. In an interview granted to 'Okdiario', the leader of the Popular Party has assured that he would travel to Morocco as his first official visit abroad, considering that the relationship with Rabat should occupy a priority place in Spanish foreign policy.

“Well, without a doubt, I believe the first trip should be to Morocco and on my part it would be to Morocco,” Feijóo affirmed. The popular leader also took the opportunity to criticize Pedro Sánchez's policy towards the neighboring country and accused the President of the Government of having deteriorated bilateral relations. “I will not do what Sánchez did, underestimate Morocco,” he said, before stating that the head of the Executive “now turns out to behave more like a subject of Morocco than as a president of the Government of Spain.”

Feijóo has also placed the United States among his international priorities, although he has not specified if it would be his second trip. The president of the PP believes that Spain should strengthen its relationship with Washington and has specifically pointed to Venezuela and Cuba as two areas in which, in his opinion, both countries should work together.

“Spain has a debt with Venezuela and Cuba due to Sánchez's foreign policy during these last years of support for the dictatorships of Chávez and Maduro,” he maintained. Regarding Cuba, he has defended that Spain and the United States collaborate to promote political changes on the island: “And, together with the US, it has to ensure that prosperity and freedom reach Cuba out of respect for the Cuban people.”

The situation in Ceuta also occupies a prominent place in the statements of the PP leader. Asked if he will return to the autonomous city soon, Feijóo responded affirmatively, although without specifying a date. “Yes,” he answered, before explaining that he maintains daily conversations with the president of Ceuta, Juan Vivas, and that other popular leaders will also travel to the city.

Feijóo has defended the presence of the PP in Ceuta as a way of exercising its role as an alternative to the Executive. “It is our obligation. We are the first party in Spain, if the Government does not work, at least the alternative should work,” he affirmed.

The popular leader has assured that the city's situation particularly worries him and has recalled that he knows Ceuta since his time as president of Insalud, in 1996. In this regard, he has mentioned structural problems such as waiting lists and school failure and has held the State responsible for competencies in Health and Education.

However, Feijóo has placed the current migratory crisis on a different level. “But this has crossed all limits. The situation, I insist, is Dantean,” he denounced. The PP leader has also questioned the Government's assertion that the situation is under control: “There are thousands of people wandering around Ceuta. And the Government says it is normalized, how is it normalized?”
