Alberto Núñez Feijóo has showcased this Saturday his harmony with Isabel Díaz Ayuso during a PP event held in Getafe, in which he has supported the Madrid president while controversies surrounding her Government continue, among them the purchase of the luxury penthouse in Chamberí. Specifically, the leader of the PP has even recovered the slogan that Ayuso used in the 2023 regional elections: "We are going to win with enthusiasm". "I am very proud of the Popular Party of Madrid," he assured before the popular leaders and militants.
The photograph of unity between Feijóo and Ayuso comes after Más Madrid has brought before the Court of Accounts the acquisition of the property on General Martínez Campos street. The party considers that the operation could have caused damage to public coffers. The Madrid government, for its part, maintains that it has already given "all the explanations it deems appropriate."
The penthouse was acquired by the public company Planifica Madrid for about 6.3 million euros and subsequently the Community announced its intention to sell it for close to 6.7 million. Más Madrid calculates that, adding taxes and other expenses, the cost of the operation could be around 6.68 million, which could generate a loss if it is finally sold for the announced price.
At the event, Feijóo did not mention the controversy and focused his speech on the upcoming elections. "Let them prepare because in this course there are three elections that they are going to choke on," he warned, in reference to the electoral appointments that the PP will face.
The popular leader asked Ayuso and the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, to beat the left-wing candidates: "You beat the ministers and I beat the president. We are going to beat them all".
Feijóo also made another nod to Ayuso by committing to extend to all of Spain the prohibition of individual use of screens and digital devices in Early Childhood and Primary Education, a measure promoted by the Community of Madrid.
Meanwhile, Más Madrid demands that the Court of Accounts analyze all the documentation of the purchase and sale and determine if there was economic damage to the Madrid Administration.
