Feijóo raises the tone against Sánchez and proposes a "democratic rupture": "Decisions are made to save a single man"

The president of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, defended this Sunday in Badalona the need to promote a “democratic rupture of Sánchez's decadence” to face a profound change in Spain and build an Executive that, he has maintained, provides stability and capacity for anticipation in the face of the country's problems.

The popular leader spoke at an event of the PP of Catalonia held in the Turó Caritg park, in the presence of the president of the Catalan popular party, Alejandro Fernández, and the mayor of the city, Xavier García Albiol, in a meeting in which he tried to project the idea of a “real” government alternative.

“We are going to make a real change, not a 'bluff' like Illa's in Catalonia, where in the end the same people continue to rule,” Feijóo affirmed, in a direct reference to the Catalan political scenario and the leadership of Salvador Illa. In his opinion, the PP proposes a broader transformation, with which it intends to “clean up” institutions and return them, he said, to the citizenry.

In that same speech, the leader of the opposition maintained that his project involves “a total cleanup,” “returning institutions to citizens,” and “getting the country working,” considering that Spain's problem is that public decisions would be subordinated to a project of personal power.

Feijóo added, in that context, that “decisions are made to save a single man” and accused the Government of using public money for the benefit of particular interests, in allusion to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

The PP focuses its criticism on the economy, the Budgets, and tax pressure

During his speech, the president of the PP emphasized the economic situation and stressed that the CPI has exceeded 4%, despite the fact that, he reproached, the Executive insists that “everything is going well.” In his approach, the response cannot be based on emergency measures or partial corrections, but on structural reforms aimed at reducing production costs.

“You cannot govern for four years without Budgets, because, if not, there is no economic policy,” warned Feijóo, who criticized the absence of approved accounts and defended that a government needs a budgetary framework to sustain any economic planning with continuity.

The popular leader has also reproached the Executive for living “permanently in improvisation, in the royal decree-law and in last-minute blackmail,” a sequence of practices that, in his opinion, prevents the development of a stable and evaluable project. Against this, he has demanded the approval of Budgets and the fulfillment of a defined roadmap.

Feijóo has also called for an end to the “permanent escalation” of taxes, which, he said, exceeds 100 tax figures since Sánchez has been at the head of the Government. In addition, he pointed out that the Personal Income Tax (IRPF) has increased twice as much as the Spanish economy, in a criticism with which the PP tries to reinforce its message about tax pressure and the deterioration of purchasing power.
