The general secretary of Podemos, Ione Belarra, has strongly pointed to the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, calling her "the most corrupt in history" in this region. These statements were made during a demonstration called by neighborhood associations from the Madrid district of Hortaleza, protesting against the holding of the Spanish Formula 1 (F1) Grand Prix on the urban circuit known as Madring.

In this context, Ione Belarra anticipated that, within a decade, this event could lead to a new scandal related to corrupt practices by the Popular Party (PP). According to her words, "the lack of transparency characterizes them" and this is reflected in how they manage public events such as the aforementioned Grand Prix.

In her criticisms, the purple leader reiterated that Díaz Ayuso had resided for the last three or four years in an apartment financed with resources obtained through corrupt acts, calling this situation "absolutely indecent." For this reason, she stated that she saw no possibility for an internal reform within the PP that would put an end to these practices.

Subtracting public money for private interests: the PP's formula, according to Podemos

Ione Belarra concluded her interventions by assuring that when the Popular Party accesses institutions and settles in them —as is currently happening in the regional government— its only known activity is "to steal, dip their hand in the till and divert public money for private interests," giving as a concrete example what happened with the international sporting event held in Madrid.
