Irene Montero assures that Zapatero's indictment "looks very bad" and criticizes the PSOE's management

The explanations offered by former Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero regarding the investigation affecting him have not convinced Irene Montero. The political secretary of Podemos assured this Friday that the indictment of the former socialist leader "looks very bad" and warned that the lack of answers only fuels doubts surrounding the case. "If you can't clarify what's there, it's probably because things are not pretty," she stated during an interview on the program 'Hoy por Hoy' on Cadena Ser.

Beyond Zapatero's situation, Montero took the opportunity to question the PSOE's actions and assured that the party "increasingly has difficulties doing something useful for people." In her opinion, the accumulation of investigations and controversies is eroding the trust of the progressive electorate, and she insisted that "we have many things to clarify" because "we still have no answers."

Montero points to the 'Leire case'

Montero also focused on the so-called 'Leire case,' which she said raises difficult questions to justify. The Podemos leader maintained that Leire Díez's access to meetings with different actors cannot be understood as an isolated action. "Nobody would give Leire a meeting if she wasn't linked to high government instances," she affirmed. Along the same lines, she argued that those who maintained contact with her "it's not because they were rotten apples, it's because they had access to the president and the PSOE," insisting that this episode requires explanations.

Criticism of the PP and silence on the ILO

The MEP also took advantage of the interview to criticize the Popular Party and reject that an eventual arrival of the popular party to the Government represents a solution to the current political situation. "They have not yet had the decency to explain to Spain who M. Rajoy is," she pointed out.

Asked about Yolanda Díaz's candidacy to lead the International Labor Organization (ILO), Montero avoided commenting on the appointment and merely stated that "I expected Sánchez to do something like that for Yolanda."
