The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, opened this Monday the investiture debate in the Andalusian Parliament with which he aspires to be re-elected at the head of the regional Government. In his speech in Seville, Moreno defended the need to reach political agreements that guarantee institutional stability in the community, in a context in which his party is two seats short of an absolute majority. He asked Vox "to act with intelligence and generosity to facilitate Andalusia's progress" arguing that "it is about knowing how to yield in search of the general interest of Andalusians."
Moreno claimed his electoral victory as "resounding and unappealable" and stressed that the election result leaves a clear panorama in which, in his opinion, there are only two options: to advance through agreements or to enter a situation of political and institutional blockade.
Among the priorities of his future mandate, he highlighted the approval of the community's budgets "in due time and form," with the aim that the 2027 accounts can come into force from the beginning of the fiscal year. In that vein, he pointed out the importance of defining the structure of the new Government as soon as possible.
The acting president also referred to the other parliamentary forces, whom he reproached for their refusal to dialogue, considering that they have opted for blockade instead of facilitating the formation of government after the electoral result, "PSOE, Adelante and Por Andalucía have opted for blockade" he pointed out. "whether there are elections or a legislative pact, their current irresponsibility makes them responsible for the future"
The candidate indicated that he will do "everything possible" to achieve agreements that extend to all political forces, with the intention of building "the broadest possible consensuses." He also added that he assumes "with responsibility and enthusiasm" the objective of giving continuity to what he has defined as a period of "stability, reforms and honesty" in his previous mandate.
The investiture debate will continue in the coming days with the intervention of the different parliamentary groups, before the final vote scheduled in the Andalusian Chamber.
