The endorsement of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) of the amnesty law has strengthened the position of Junts, which considers that the ruling marks a turning point in the application of the amnesty law and maintains that, from now on, the responsibility lies exclusively with the Spanish courts. The party understands that the European resolution clears the main legal obstacles raised so far and argues that there are no longer reasons to keep the norm unapplied to those prosecuted for the 'procés', including the former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont.
The spokesperson for Junts in Congress, Míriam Nogueras, summarized the party's position with a forceful message: "The ball is now in the court of the Spanish tribunals: application or rebellion". The leader also vindicated the political and judicial trajectory of the party and celebrated the ruling with a triumphant message on 'X': "The mother who bore me, what we are doing in Junts is historic and we have done it with everyone shooting". For Nogueras, the resolution confirms that "the struggle in exile" has been "the best way to bend Spain".
El 2017, la lluita a l’exili era la que tenia menys probabilitats de guanyar. El 2026, gràcies al president @KRLS i la tasca ingent del @boye, s’ha demostrat la millor via per doblegar a Espanya. Hem arriscat i hem guanyat.

For his part, the general secretary of the party, Jordi Turull, interpreted the resolution as a recognition of the strategy that the independence movement has maintained during recent years. In that sense, he assured that "today in Europe they are telling us that we should already be home," in reference to Puigdemont and the rest of the leaders who are still awaiting the effective application of the amnesty. For Turull, the decision also confirms an idea that Junts has defended since the approval of the law, in which "amnesty is justice, it is not forgiveness."
In the same vein, the former Catalan president's lawyer, Gonzalo Boye, stated that the CJEU's resolution supports the legal approach that the defense has maintained since the beginning of the process. "The CJEU has given us the best of vindications: we were right," he assured, before demanding that the norm be applied "without exceptions" and with the same criteria as any other current law.
