The Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, has assured that everything is prepared to reinforce the courts of Ceuta with the aim of providing a response to the increase in work due to the crisis motivated by the massive entry of migrants into the autonomous city on July 30 and 31.
The General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) has requested this Tuesday the reinforcement of the courts of Ceuta with two magistrates and experienced personnel. All, after receiving a report on the situation of the Court of First Instance of Ceuta that reveals that what happened in the city has affected "in an extraordinary way" the public service of justice. The governing body of judges believes it is necessary to reinforce the on-call service with one judge and the court with jurisdiction over violence against women and sexual offenses with another specific service commission due to the increase in work, "especially matters related to alleged sexual assaults."
Some sources from the department headed by Félix Bolaños indicate that the Ministry already conveyed weeks ago to the CGPJ and the High Court of Justice of Andalusia its commitment to greenlight the reinforcements that were necessary in the Court of First Instance of Ceuta when the application process begins. However, despite the fact that no communication has yet been received from the CGPJ, the sources clarify that everything is prepared to process it as soon as it arrives.
In addition to this, the sources also point out that two weeks ago the Ministry approved various measures to reinforce the administration of justice in Ceuta both in forensic services and in judicial services, in a staggered manner and in relation to the needs. In the same way, a manager and two procedural processors have been incorporated into the Area Prosecutor's Office of Ceuta, in addition to authorizing the incorporation of five lawyers into the specialized public defender's office. In the same way, the Attorney General's Office has also been authorized to support the Area Prosecutor's Office of Ceuta with three substitute prosecutors, to prioritize the increase in procedures derived from this situation.
