King Felipe VI has lamented the accident which, he noted, presents "apparently a high number of fatalities and injuries," in his first statements on what happened.
"The first thing is to lament the terrible accident with apparently a high number of fatalities and injuries," said the monarch, before adding that "the emergency is being fully attended to and all circumstances are being recovered and analyzed."
Message of support to families and monitoring of the emergency
Felipe VI also wanted to convey his solidarity to those affected, stating: "To transmit to the families our condolences, sadness, support, and affection in such a difficult moment." In that same message, the king indicated that he had been able to speak with President Page and that he remains pending to return to follow the evolution of the emergency and learn more details.
