Koldo García, former advisor to former minister José Luis Ábalos, appeared this Wednesday before the Navarre Parliament's investigation committee that analyzes possible irregularities in public contracts. During his intervention, he refused to answer the questions from the parliamentary groups and assured that “everything they are saying are outrageous things”.
The appearance has taken place by videoconference from the prison of Soto del Real, where he remains in pre-trial detention since November within the framework of the so-called Koldo case, related to an alleged scheme of commissions in exchange for public contracts.
In his initial intervention, García has defended that it will be in the courts where the facts are clarified and has insisted that there is still a long way to go in the judicial process. As he has pointed out, with time he will be able to demonstrate his version of what happened.
The former advisor has also harshly criticized the parliamentary commission, which he has accused of seeking a “minute of glory” and of turning the session into what he described as a “media circus”.
Throughout the session, the parliamentarians have raised questions about his relationship with different companies and about his possible role as an intermediary in public contracts, although García has barely responded to the questions asked and has remained silent most of the time.
