Marlaska demands explanations from the Director of the Police for the report that points to Morocco's involvement in the massive entry into Ceuta

The Minister of Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has demanded that the Director General of the National Police, Francisco Pardo, urgently clarify the existence and content of a police report that would attribute to Moroccan forces the organization of the massive entry of migrants into Ceuta during July 30 and 31. The request comes after El Español published that the General Commissariat of Immigration and Borders would have transferred this information to the National Court magistrate María Tardón.

In a letter sent to Pardo early this Wednesday morning, to which Cadena SER has had access, Marlaska demands to know "the veracity" of what was published and, above all, since when the National Police had knowledge of that investigation. The minister emphasizes that, "if true", it would be "absolutely essential" information for the Interior Ministry and the Government to be able to make decisions regarding the migratory crisis in Ceuta. The alleged report maintains that the entry would have been guided by Moroccan gendarmes under the orders of plainclothes agents and with a purpose other than merely migratory.

Marlaska's main concern lies precisely in the internal circuit that this document would have followed. According to police sources cited by SER, the report sent to magistrate Tardón would have circulated among very few officials and would not even have been communicated to the Deputy Operational Director (DAO) of the National Police. The minister reminds in his letter that judicial actions "cannot be an impediment" for the State Security Forces and Corps to immediately inform the head of the Interior Ministry, who holds the superior command in matters of internal security.

The claim acquires special relevance after the Government declared the situation of interest for National Security last August 25. Marlaska maintains that information of this nature should have immediately reached the National Security Council, the single command of the migratory crisis, led by the Minister of Territorial Policy, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the rest of the agencies with competence in the matter. For this reason, the head of the Interior Ministry has asked Francisco Pardo to inform him "as soon as possible" if the report is authentic, when the Police had it, and what additional information is in the hands of the investigators.
