Ayuso's government lashes out against the delegate in Madrid and Pedro Sánchez's government after encampment in La Puerta del Sol

The Minister of Presidency, Justice and Local Administration of the Community of Madrid, Miguel Ángel García Martín, has lashed out this Monday against the delegate of the Government in Madrid, Francisco Martín, whom he has described as "disastrous" for, in his opinion, not having protected the residents of the area around Puerta del Sol nor having done "absolutely nothing" to prevent the encampment set up in this central Madrid location.

In statements to Telemadrid, collected by Europa Press, the spokesperson for the regional Executive also maintained that the representative of the central Government is the one who "does not exercise his powers" and who would not have given the "appropriate instructions" to the National Police to prevent the settlement.

"It is the Government delegate himself who did not give the appropriate instructions for that encampment not to take place and who has done absolutely nothing to protect the merchants, to protect the residents of that area, the tourists. All this is also Spain's image, this is also Spain's brand that is being seen," stated Miguel Ángel García Martín.

Accusations against Pedro Sánchez's Government and reference to housing

According to the minister, the choice of Puerta del Sol as the setting for the encampment, right in front of the regional government's headquarters, aims to "somehow" link the Community of Madrid with a problem that, in his opinion, corresponds to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in terms of housing.

García Martín insisted that the head of the central Executive is "absolutely obsessed" with the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, because, he said, perhaps she is the one who puts him "in front of the mirror and he doesn't like what he sees," in allusion to a leader whom he described as an "autocrat" and who, in his opinion, uses institutions to try to "erode" the regional Government and "thus cover up his shame."

"We are in the grotesque, we are simply trying to televise an issue like this encampment to cover up the shame that this Government has," said the spokesperson for the Madrid Executive, whom he described as the "most corrupt and most chaotic" in the history of Spain.

Along the same lines, he stressed that the second vice president and leader of Sumar, Yolanda Díaz, calls for mobilization against the very Government of which she is a part.

Reproaches for housing policy and parliamentary support

The minister also defended that it is a "decomposing" Executive, without sufficient support in the Congress to pass the so-called Maricarmen decree on housing, and stated that the Government "is already spending its last hours."

"The invasion of Ceuta has been the epitaph of this government that only has to set a date for the call for elections to put an end to the agony," asserted Miguel Ángel García Martín.

The Community of Madrid accuses the central Executive of not acting in eight years

In relation to housing policy, the spokesperson for the Madrid Government criticized Pedro Sánchez's Executive for not having done "anything" in eight years to find solutions, beyond a law that he described as "interventionist" and which, he said, has reduced the rental supply and increased prices.

García Martín also questioned where the 184,000 homes promised by the President of the Government are, and assured that "absolutely none" have been built, while the Community of Madrid concentrates, according to his version, 40% of all protected housing built in Spain.

"Madrid is doing its homework and, unfortunately, there are other public administrations that have done absolutely nothing, as in this case the government of Pedro Sánchez," concluded the regional spokesperson.

Manos Limpias will file a complaint against the Government delegate in Madrid

The union Manos Limpias will file a complaint this morning against the Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, for the alleged commission of a crime of administrative prevarication by omission and omission of the duty to prosecute crimes, by allowing the encampment set up in the Puerta del Sol in Madrid.

Miguel Bernad, general secretary of Manos Limpias, informed Europa Press in advance of the filing of the complaint, in a context marked by the lack of action by the Government Delegation in Madrid to stop the settlement, which the union considers illegal.

The encampment began on Saturday night, after the demonstration called in Madrid due to the eviction of Maricarmen, and continues in the center of the capital with the demand for the approval of the so-called 'Maricarmen decree'.

The complaint comes after the Madrid City Council accused the Government Delegation this Sunday of alleged "dereliction of duty" and lack of diligence regarding the encampment set up in Puerta del Sol after the housing protest.

Municipal sources recalled that the control of public order corresponds to the Government Delegation, especially regarding the right to demonstrate, and demanded that "normality be restored" in Puerta del Sol. The same sources added that, during the 15M protests in 2011, the evictions were organized and coordinated by the Delegation itself.

For its part, the Community of Madrid also accused the Ministry of Interior this Sunday, through the Government Delegation, of allowing the encampment to be set up and of "washing its hands" by suggesting that the Municipal Police should proceed with the eviction.

Sources from the regional Government maintained that "what the Ministry of Interior is doing is illegal" and defended that the powers in this case correspond to the National Police. In addition, they reproached the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, for "looking for culprits and not finding solutions".
