The general secretary of the Popular Party (PP), Miguel Tellado, has demanded that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, call general elections “now,” in a message in which he urged him not to delay the decision any longer. “Pedro, don't think about it anymore. Do it. Call general elections tomorrow. Press the button,” he demanded.

Tellado also stated that “this Government's best housing policy will be the call for elections,” considering that it will be the PP who “builds that million homes the country needs,” and maintained that the decree dissolving the Cortes would have the support of “the vast majority of Spaniards,” as he expressed this Sunday in statements sent to the media.

The PP declares itself ready for elections and points to the CIS

The popular general secretary also warned Pedro Sánchez that the later he calls the elections, the “worse” it will be for him: “Better November than December, March, or July. Listen to us. You'll see,” he insisted, while assuring that the PP is “prepared” to face elections.

On the other hand, Miguel Tellado accused the President of the Executive of remaining “lying on the couch at Moncloa” while he “orders” the president of the Center for Sociological Research (CIS), José Félix Tezanos, to “do surveys in a hurry” to decide whether to bring forward the elections or “leave them for a few months from now.”

Criticism of the Government and support for Alberto Núñez Feijóo

“We hope he is not taking advantage of this period of reflection for the same as the previous one,” Tellado also asserted, expressing that his party also hopes “that no sewers are being set up in the underworld of socialism” nor “contacting narcoclanes to get rid of judges,” nor holding “sordid meetings” in Moncloa or Ferraz to “once again attack the Rule of Law.” “We hope that the socialists are not returning to their old ways,” he stated.

Finally, the general secretary of the PP predicted the end of what he called “the worst Government in democracy,” whose “agony,” he clarified, “will not be the agony of Spain.” “The nightmare comes to an end,” he stressed, while also assuring that the country is “very close” to having “the clean, brave, and decent Government that Spain deserves.”

“President Feijóo will open a new era. He will lead a change that will be much more than a mere change of government. It will be a whole change of era to recover everything that has been destroyed and kidnapped in these years. So that democracy and the Spanish nation return to their full splendor,” concluded the general secretary of the PP.
