Óscar López has published a video on his social networks in which he denounces what he calls the "Madrid mud machine", a smear campaign that, he claims, has intensified since he announced his candidacy for the Community of Madrid. With irony and a review of different headlines published about him, the socialist leader accuses certain media of spreading false information and asks to follow the money trail that, in his opinion, sustains these publications.

One of the first issues he addresses is the information about the alleged existence of more than one million euros in bank accounts in the Dominican Republic. López assures that this news is false and recalls that, according to his account, the president of the Senate transferred that information to the Supreme Court. He also responds to publications about his real estate assets: "I have met with Villarejo to ask him for information against the President of the Government. False, I have never met with that gentleman to ask him for anything", he states in the video.

The minister also denies reports about alleged parties during his time at the head of Paradores. In an ironic tone, he lists different places that would have appeared in the publications and questions the veracity of those stories. With this review, López seeks to cast doubt on the credibility of the headlines he considers part of a strategy to harm his political image before the Madrid election campaign.

Another issue López addresses is the controversy related to Muface housing and its future management. The socialist leader rejects being presented as someone who intends to sell properties for profit and defends that the decree approved by the Government foresees that these homes will pass to Casa 47, the state housing entity, to make them available to people who need them. "It would be enough to read the decree approved by the Government," he maintains in the recording.

López also denounces the insults that, he claims, he receives on social networks and attributes part of that activity to accounts linked to Vox and the PP. In his speech, he mentions "Vox Populi" and criticizes that it repeatedly uses the same photograph of him in its publications. "Man, you have to renew the photos," he jokes. The video thus combines political denunciation with ironic comments about media coverage and the personal attacks he claims to suffer.

The minister extends his criticism to the functioning of certain digital media and maintains that the negative information about him contrasts with the treatment that, in his opinion, controversies related to Isabel Díaz Ayuso receive. Specifically, he mentions the purchase of a luxury penthouse, among other issues. These references are part of the arguments that López presents in the video to question the selection of issues that make headlines.

"You just have to follow the money trail"

In the video, he also focuses on public funding of the media. López cites amounts he attributes to various digital media outlets, including OK Diario, "Vox Populi", "El Debate" and "Artículo 14", and argues that administrations governed by the PP in Madrid have contributed to their funding through institutional advertising. According to the figures he presents, OK Diario would have received more than 400,000 euros; "Vox Populi", close to 200,000; and "El Debate", more than 200,000 euros.

The socialist leader uses these data to defend his thesis that there is a relationship between public money allocated to certain media and the dissemination of information he considers harmful to him and the Government. "And do you know why all this happens? Very simple. You just have to follow the money trail," he states. The amounts and conclusions about this relationship must be contrasted with the contracts and official institutional advertising data of each administration.

López closes the video with a message addressed to those who, he denounces, participate in the dissemination of hoaxes and personal attacks: "No matter how much money there is financing lies, the truth matters". The publication comes at a time of growing political confrontation in Madrid, with the socialist candidacy already announced and parties intensifying their criticism ahead of the upcoming regional elections. With his intervention, the minister intends to respond to information that questions his career and shift the debate to the role of the media and the public funding they receive.
