The minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function and general secretary of the PSOE in Madrid, Óscar López, has lashed out against the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, whom he accuses of leading “an ultra wave” that, he states, has been attacking feminism and those who think differently for some time.

During his participation in the demonstration called in Madrid by the 8M Commission on the occasion of International Women's Day, the socialist leader assured that "the truth is that Mrs. Ayuso leads that ultra wave in Madrid and feminism is going to say enough to that ultra wave."

In that context, López maintained that the feminist movement arrives at this 8M marked by “that unleashed hate campaign”. As an example, she mentioned the case of the mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, reported for harassment by a former councilwoman and who, she criticized, “remains in his post”.

The minister also referred to the controversy generated in Collado Villalba after the interruption of a feminist play during an 8M event. In this municipality, the councilwoman for Family, Social Services and Women, Noelia Rosario Díaz Vaca, of the Popular Party, decided to stop the performance of the satirical monologue ‘Being a woman’ considering that its content constituted “a lack of respect”. The councilwoman subsequently presented her resignation and apologized for what happened.

On the other hand, López also warned about the violence suffered by women in the digital environment. In this regard, defended that the Executive will promote measures to regulate the technological sphere and digital platforms. “And the government of Spain will be at the forefront of the regulation of social networks and everything that has to do with artificial intelligence, which we are seeing has a clearly sexist bias and which always, coincidentally, attacks feminism”, affirmed.
