Mónica García, Minister of Health, has described this October 1st as "wonderful" the images of the encampment in the Puerta del Sol and has recalled that, in her opinion, all of this arose from the eviction of an 87-year-old woman. According to her, this fact restores confidence in society by verifying that it mobilizes in favor of older people.

García has also indicated that the second Royal Decree-Law, which automatically extends housing rental contracts, was registered by Sumar as a law in Parliament. In this regard, she added that Más Madrid registered it less than a year ago because, as she explained, it is the structural measure through which housing speculation is creeping in.

Accuses the right of blocking measures for four years

Afterward, the minister blamed the right for the current housing situation for having blocked the different initiatives that the Executive has brought to Congress for "four years." Among them, she cited measures so that housing cannot be speculated with, to put a cap on prices, and so that housing that, she affirmed, belongs to article 47 of the Constitution and to citizens cannot be bought by vulture funds.

For García, the right has "systematically" prevented the approval of "social measures" and "measures that make our country advance."

The effect she attributes to the approval of the Royal Decrees

Finally, she maintained that if the Royal Decrees are approved tomorrow, it will mean that 5 million people will live more peacefully because, she assured, their landlords or owners will not be able to raise the rental price, as, in her opinion, has been happening, for example, in Madrid, creating a "broken society."
