The case of the penthouse acquired by a public company of the Community of Madrid for Isabel Díaz Ayuso adds a new judicial development. The PSOE of Madrid and Más Madrid have requested to appear as popular prosecution in the case, thus joining the request previously submitted by Iustitia Europa. There are already three requests to appear before Instruction Court number 8 of Madrid.
The purchase of the property, located in the Chamberí district and valued at around 6.3 million euros, has caused growing political controversy since the operation became known. The Public Prosecutor's Office of Madrid sent its pre-procedural proceedings to the judge, along with several complaints, for possible crimes related to the acquisition.
The request to appear occurs while access to documentation related to the operation remains pending. The Madrid opposition demands that the circumstances in which the decision to acquire the property was made and the use it has finally been given be clarified. The three organizations focus on the circumstances of the acquisition of the property by the Community of Madrid and on the possibility that the operation was intended for Ayuso to use the penthouse as her habitual residence.
In their actions, the parties point to possible indications of prevarication and embezzlement, crimes that must be determined, if applicable, during the judicial investigation. The case remains open while the court analyzes the different complaints and requests related to the operation.
Ayuso, for her part, tried to close the controversy with her well-known "chao, pescao" (bye, fish). However, the matter continues to advance through the judicial system with the incorporation of new actors into the case.
