Minister Sara Aagesen has announced that next Tuesday the Council of Ministers will approve a new line of aid endowed with 368 million euros aimed at improving energy efficiency and climate control systems in hospitals, health centers, and public educational centers.
The initiative, promoted by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, is divided into two packages: a first allocation of 168 million euros directed to healthcare facilities and a second of 200 million destined for educational centers.
As explained by the Vice President, these aids will allow to reduce the energy consumption of public buildings and, at the same time, improve their conditions of use. In the case of healthcare centers, the objective is “to save public resources to be able to dedicate them to improving the service, enhance the comfort of patients and professionals, and reinforce the quality of essential services.” In the educational field, she pointed out that they seek to “allow our sons and daughters to be better protected against the climate emergency.”
The planned actions include improvements in climate control, refrigeration, heating, insulation, and energy efficiency systems of the buildings. The plan will be financed by the National Energy Efficiency Fund and its territorial distribution must be subsequently agreed upon with the autonomous communities in the Sectoral Energy Conference.
