The minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function and general secretary of the PSOE of Madrid, Óscar López, demanded explanations this Wednesday from the Government of the Community of Madrid for the purchase of a penthouse in the Chamberí district that will be used as a temporary office by the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, while rehabilitation works are carried out on the Real Casa de Correos.

Through a message published on the social network X, López questioned the operation and demanded transparency regarding the acquisition of the property. "First a chalet in Rascafría. Now a penthouse in Chamberí. Millions of euros from all Madrilenians. For the use and enjoyment of Mrs. Ayuso. Today they must explain how, how much, why and for what purpose," he wrote.

As reported by El País, the Community of Madrid acquired on April 14 a 485-square-meter penthouse, located on the ninth floor of Paseo del General Martínez Campos, in one of the neighborhoods with the highest real estate value in the capital. The purchase would have been made by Planifica Madrid, the public company responsible for managing the real estate assets of the regional administration.

According to that information, the property will serve as the provisional headquarters for the regional president during the works on the Real Casa de Correos, scheduled to begin in August. The aforementioned media also points out that this investment was not initially included in the public company's budgets for 2026, an aspect for which the PSOE is now demanding explanations from the regional Executive.
