The candidacy of Yolanda Díaz to lead the International Labor Organization (ILO) has provoked the first political reactions. The former Vice President of the Government and former leader of Podemos, Pablo Iglesias, has interpreted the Executive's proposal as a political reward.
During an intervention on the program 'Las mañanas de RNE', Iglesias stated that this type of appointment is usually reserved for figures who, after their time in government, access international positions away from the political front line and with a high remuneration. "It is a reward for services rendered," said the former Podemos leader, who added that Yolanda Díaz "will be the best paid member of Comisiones Obreras in history."
"I don't know if she is a good candidate"
Although he has not commented on the suitability of the vice president to hold the position, Iglesias insisted that the Executive "rewards those it has to reward" with this type of designation. In his opinion, these are positions that usually go unnoticed by public opinion, but that offer significant institutional projection.
The former vice president also took the opportunity to compare this situation with that of former members of Podemos who were part of the coalition government. As he pointed out, none of them subsequently received an assignment in international organizations, embassies or similar institutions, a circumstance that, he said, makes him "proud."
The PP takes advantage of the announcement to attack Sánchez
The Secretary General of the Popular Party, Miguel Tellado, has also reacted to the Government's announcement and has taken advantage of Yolanda Díaz's candidacy to lead the International Labor Organization (ILO) to attack the second vice president and the Executive.
Through a message published on his 'X' social network account, the popular leader has assured that the proposal constitutes "the price that Yolanda Díaz has set to cover up Sánchez's corruption."
