Emiliano García-Page has once again raised his tone against Pedro Sánchez after the PSOE Federal Committee. The president of Castilla-La Mancha, the only socialist baron with an absolute majority, has assured in an interview with 'El Periódico' that Moncloa has become an electoral problem for socialist candidates in 2027.

I understand that it is difficult for the Government and Sánchez to assume that they are a burden and that they deny it,” says Page. The Castilian-Manchegan leader adds that, today, “the biggest problem that candidates for city councils have is national management.” The phrase comes just a few days after his intervention in Ferraz, where he already asked for “self-criticism, clarity, and response” in the face of the judicial cases surrounding the party.

Page maintains that the PSOE is experiencing a critical moment of credibility. In the interview, he speaks of “more than 120 people indicted,” of “a former president indicted,” and of “many open cases.” He also questions the socialist leadership’s attempt to explain every problem as an external operation. “Are we not guilty of anything? Are we not responsible for anything that is happening? Is everything a global conspiracy?” he asks.

The Castilian-Manchegan president does not present himself as an isolated voice within the PSOE. He assures that “many” leaders share his criticisms in private, although not all are willing to express them publicly. According to Page, Ferraz is focused on showing strength, but that need to close ranks ends up portraying weakness. “A solvent leadership does not require a permanent expression of flattery,” he maintains.

The wound of the Federal Committee remains open

The interview keeps alive the clash that was already seen in last Saturday’s Federal Committee. Sánchez defended there that the PSOE is “clean”, denied irregular financing, and claimed the continuity of the Government until 2027. Page left that meeting without the guarantees he had requested about a possible indictment of the party and again demanded political explanations for the cases of Ábalos, Koldo García, Santos Cerdán, Leire Díez, and José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.

The socialist baron also criticizes the Government’s pacts with separatism and speaks of a “credibility sinkhole” in the organization. In his opinion, the party has “bunkerized” around Sánchez and has lost connection with the street. “Militancy does not equate to complicity,” he summarizes in the interview.

Page even reproaches that the PSOE has not filed a complaint against Leire Díez, whom he mentions as a possible "cluster bomb." He also asks why the party would have assumed defense costs for Santos Cerdán or José Luis Ábalos, something the leadership denies. For the president of Castilla-La Mancha, these explanations are key to preventing the judicial crisis from affecting the entire organization.

The leader does not yet clarify whether he will run again as a candidate in the 2027 regional elections. He says that the decision will depend on him and his family, although he assures that he will work to ensure that the PSOE maintains an absolute majority in Castilla-La Mancha. Regarding his organizational future, he rules himself out: "I am in the final stretch of my political life."
