The judicial investigation against José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero for the Plus Ultra case has provoked a striking reaction from the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, who used the social network X to ironize about the origin of the inquiries. All this after it became known that part of the investigation was based on a mobile phone intercepted by US authorities during the Joe Biden administration.
Have you understood, children? It wasn't the evil Trump. It was Biden. The Ser wants you to understand it very clearly. Because then you think badly, because you are reds, and you get lost. https://t.co/Cj1hpwgx5D

“Have you understood, children? It wasn't the evil Trump. It was Biden. The SER wants you to understand it very clearly. Because then you think badly, because you are reds, and you get lost”, Puente wrote on his X account, in a message full of sarcasm directed at those who linked the case to an alleged political persecution from conservative US sectors.
The minister's comment comes after it emerged that the phone of the Venezuelan businessman Rodolfo Reyes Rojas, majority shareholder of Plus Ultra, was intercepted in Miami in May 2021 by Homeland Security Investigations. The analysis of the device would have revealed messages in which airline executives spoke of the possible mediation of Zapatero in the public rescue of the company.
The Audiencia Nacional has ended up indicting the former socialist president and has summoned him to testify next June 2. Although no direct conversation from Zapatero appears in the intercepted messages, the investigators consider that the references found were decisive in guiding the inquiries towards the former head of the Executive.
